Walking is worth it...

I laugh when I see "Rocking Walks".  I guess it will be that way someday for me!  But for now... I still enjoy my walking.  I wouldn't if it wasn't for my mp3 player.  It really rocks. When some music is too fast.... I get so winded. lol!  But I am sticking with the walking and will continue to.  I feel like it isn't doing much good.... but in my heart I know it is.  My glucose reading goes down.  I am not as winded as I was.  I don't hurt.

I did learn something about myself today!  I am not good at jumping up from the beach onto a boat ramp two feet high. I don't know why I thought it would be ok.  lol!

Keep on trucking!!!

Walking gives you all the aerobic fitness benefits of jogging, cycling, swimming, rowing and dancing, but without injuries or burnout. It helps you regain and maintain your ideal body weight. It improves both muscle tone and strength and you walk away all those flabby areas that you have always wanted to be rid of. And walking helps in better management of:
  • Back pain
  • Heart disease
  • Premenstrual Syndrome
  • Pregnancy
  • Hypertension
  • High cholesterol
  • Respiratory Problems
  • Cardiac Rehabilitation
  • Arthritis
  • Varicose Vein
  • Diabetes

Fitness is for life. So is walking. It is suitable for just about everybody. It is a totally natural activity that can be enjoyed by all, from the youngest to the oldest, even those recovering from illness. It can be done almost anywhere, at any time and it requires no special skills. It is a fitness for healthy life. It is:

  • The safest and best form of exercise
  • Ideal for developing long term cardio/vascular health and improving respiratory efficiency
  • The perfect activity for weight loss and burning away fat and unwanted calories
  • Ideal for conditioning the hips, thighs and stomach muscles
  • The ideal way to beat stress for a healthy body and mind.
  • Appropriate for young and old.
  • The cheapest fitness program available - All you need is a good pair of shoes. (Walkman and a dog help, too!)

So sorry... you can comment now!!!!

I had the settings wrong on commenting.  I was wondering why people were saying they couldn't leave a comment! lol!

I have been doing ok... gained a few pounds... I need to watch what I am eating!!!!!!!!!  I have been a bit slack.  Making some changes in my diet isn't enough. I really need to watch my portions!

I walked 4 days last week... but not every day. Feel guilty about that too!  But this week is a new week and a great time to get back on the bus!  Well, not the bus! lol!

I cannot afford liposuctions or fat removel... so I am at it the old fashion way. Loved the comic!

Hope you are all moving... no matter what the weather says!

Keep on truckin'

Well, maybe not such a great start.  Found out I have a bone spur on the left heel. Don't know what to do about it but I will start stretching and keep on walking!  The stretching is what I always forget to do!

I hope some people check out this site and feel encouraged to get up and move it! Walking really rocks! The dog thinks so too!

A great start!

I am Joyce. I have been walking for over a month and I am loving it! Never thought I would. But everyone told me once I would get started I would enjoy it! They were right!

I started this new blog to be an encouragement to you and I hope you will be to me too!  I admit there are times I just don't want to put on those walking shoes!  I'm tired, my feet hurt, it's too hot, it's too cold, it's raining... no time.... I can write a book on excuses!  If I grab the dog's leash.... I am committed. I couldn't break his heart. lol!

When I started walking... I had others that mentioned it is something they should do too.  I also must admit this walking business was not my choice.  Health reasons have forced it on me.  I hope you start before you are forced to!  I can promise you after 2 weeks you will be hooked!

If you'd like to join me and get rocking.... or walking... every day just post your comments on how you are doing! What is helping... why you missed.... prayer requests... whatever!  It will be fun!

Let's get started!
